PROFESSIONAL Training DIVISION

ABOUT THE PROGRAM | Ballet West Academy’s Professional Training Division is designed for serious ballet students, 14 years old and up. The PTD program is comprised of three female and two male levels and is designed to carry students through their high school years. The Professional Training Division is by audition or invitation only and each dancer commits to a contracted year of study with the program. PTD students are considered for a Trainee position.

This elite and talented group of young dancers experience an expanded schedule of technique classes, rehearsals, and optional coaching in addition to regular Academy classes.

This is a training position; tuition fees apply.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING DIVISION | PLACEMENT BY AUDITION
2023-2024 | START AUGUST 2023

PTDs will participate in Ballet West’s production of The Nutcracker and are eligible to participate in other Ballet West productions such as the Family Classic Series and Ballet West’s main subscription series, in addition to participation in the Academy’s Winter and Spring Showcases select PTDs participate with Trainees in repertoire including, recently, George Balanchine’s Who Cares, and Divertimento No. 15.

Training Schedule

Dedicated training of 22+ hours per week in technique class, pointe, men’s class, specialized genres (contemporary, flamenco, and other disciplines), and pas de deux in order to create a well-rounded dancer. Wellness

Through sponsorship with Intermountain Healthcare, we have access to a team of providers including Sport's Psychology, Nutrition, and full-time, onsite physical therapy dedicated to the Academy students.

Career Support

Ballet West Academy faculty support PTD students in the next step of their career including audition support, references, and reviews of professional and collegiate opportunities.

International Students Welcome

The FEQBWA is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students in the Professional Training Division including PTD and Trainee students. Administered through the Student Exchange Visa Program, students can obtain an M-1 visa. For more information about obtaining a student visa, contact academy@balletwest.org. There is an International Student Fee of $350.

Contemporary Performing Group

An opportunity for students to dive more deeply into contemporary technique, creative process, and performance, the Contemporary Performing Group is open to students from all campuses in Levels 7-8 and PTD.
